For a while, David and I have been praying about family ministry. So many times, we go into the church building, everyone goes their separate ways, and we find each other again after church on Sunday evening. We have had the desire recently to do ministry TOGETHER. What a concept! While we are still praying about opportunities where God might use our entire family in this way, the kids and I did have a chance to do some of that this week. We recently joined a home school group in order to make some friends and get involved in some activities. One activity that the group is involved in is a food pantry at a local church. Twice a month, the group assists the church in organizing and packing food to be distributed, as well as with any housekeeping needed in the storage facility. The kids and I went this past Thursday to help out. Our primary purpose this week was to organize the canned goods on the shelves and clean the cans off - several mice had been in and made themselves at home, if you know what I mean! The kids were such great helpers! They cleaned, stacked and carried, took trash to the dumpster, and had great attitudes the whole time! This particular ministry gives food to about 170 families every two weeks! It was so great to have an opportunity to serve others - we have been reminding the kids about J.O.Y. - Jesus first, Others second, Yourself last.
What a great way to put that into practice!

Happy Birthday, Andy! Wow - your birthdays are similar to ours - close together. Our birthday season is April/May then again in July/Aug. We have a birthday drought from Aug through April.
Is the food pantry you are talking about at Faith? It sounds like it. If so, did you meet the Norris'? And who else?
Yes- it is at Faith! We had a great time! Didn't meet the Norris', though! We met Danette and the lady in charge. Mrs. Cox, maybe?
