Welcome 2009!

As you can probably guess from our lack of new blog posts, we have been VERY busy the last few weeks! Christmas was a wonderful time of visiting with family in Tennessee and Virginia, and just spending some time at home relaxing and having fun! Here are some highlights to bring you up-to-date on what has been going on:
  • We have two new family members - both Zach and Andy recently acquired gerbils. We figured that our small house was really in need of more living things, so we agreed to the new additions. Their names are Dusty and Oreo. I will try to post pictures soon! (If you are considering a new pet, they really are awesome!)
  • Upward Basketball games have begun - the kids are doing a great job and getting lots of exercise!
  • Speaking of exercise, the kids received a Wii game system for Christmas from some very generous grandparents (thanks, Mamaw and Papaw!) - we are enjoying a little friendly competition! It is TONS of fun!!! Lisa is really enjoying the Wii Fit - a great tool for those of us who are trying to meet the International Mission Board weight requirement (a shout out to all of our IMB buddies!).
  • The kids and I (Lisa) are back at school, hard at work. We are studying the colonial period in history. The kids each chose one of the original 13 colonies to research for a report. They even have HOMEWORK this weekend (What kind of home school mom am I?)!
  • David starts a January-Term intensive class on Monday. It will run from 8 am - 5 pm all next week - busy, busy! His regular classes will start the next week.

As we begin a new year here in NC, here are some ways that you can be praying for us:

  • Continued engineering work for David (anyone need a GREAT electrical engineer out there?)
  • Wisdom as we continue to seek God's will for us concerning international missions
  • For Lisa as she strives to lose the weight required to meet IMB requirements
  • For Andy, Maggie and Zach to increase in their love for God and their desire to live in a way that honors Him
  • For ministry opportunities for our family

Thanks again for reading our blog, and for your interest in the life of our family. We are excited to see what God is going to teach us and how He will use us this year!
